How do you bring dogs from Mexico? Are they healthy?
CWOB has rescued dogs since 2001 with full veterinary oversight. We implement stringent quarantine and medical protocols on both sides of the border. All rescued dogs receive a minimum 60-day quarantine (typically 3+ months) in foster homes, complete vaccinations and deworming, spay/neuter procedures, treatment for any illnesses, and veterinary examinations at rescue, monthly during foster care, and again before transport.

I found a dog in Mexico that I want to rescue — can you help?
CWOB operates only in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora and is unable to assist with rescues in other areas. For an independent rescue, we recommend obtaining a veterinary examination and vaccinations for the dog, ensuring the Rabies vaccine is given at least 30 days prior to travel. You can board the dog locally for 30 days before driving it across the border. We also suggest reaching out to local rescue groups in the area where the dog was found.
I have a sick/injured animal and no money — can you help?
CWOB offers monthly wellness clinics in Sonoma County only; we are not able to provide emergency surgical or dental care. We recommend applying for emergency veterinary credit through carecredit.com to help cover urgent costs.
I'm interested in volunteering with you in Mexico — is that possible?
Yes! Volunteer opportunities are available at our spay/neuter clinic in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora (Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm). Volunteers typically assist in the recovery area. Prior veterinary experience and basic Spanish are preferred. Please note that volunteers are responsible for their own lodging, meals, and travel expenses.
