Mexico Programs

Since 2001, CWOB has been bringing brighter futures to animals in need
in Mexico through international dog rescue efforts and access to free veterinary wellness and spay/neuter.
In 2025, we opened Home for Hope, an innovative, one of a kind facility which provides shelter, veterinary care,
veterinary training, and spay/neuter services to animals in the community.

Our programs in Mexico are now all located in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora.

Home for Hope Shelter and Clinic

In 2025, we opened Home for Hope—an innovative animal shelter and fully equipped veterinary facility in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. Home for Hope serves as the first place of refuge for animals rescued from the streets, offering them immediate safety, medical care, and a path to healing.

This groundbreaking facility is a true gamechanger. It expands our capacity to rescue and rehabilitate animals, dramatically increases the range of veterinary services available to those who would otherwise go without, and significantly boosts our ability to provide high-quality spay/neuter services. It also serves as a hub for training local professionals, helping build a network of skilled providers who can deliver spay/neuter and basic veterinary care throughout Mexico and Latin America.

Spay/Neuter Clinics

CWOB brings access to spay/neuter services to communities that are under-resourced. In Mexico, unwanted dogs and cats roam the streets in the hundreds of thousands. For many animals in the impoverished neighborhoods we serve, access to spay/neuter is non-existent.

Animal Rescue

We take in animals with backgrounds of homelessness and neglect who are rescued directly off the streets or taken in from animal control centers. We also take in animals who are surrendered to us at our free clinic in Mexico.

Dogs are rescued and rehabilitated emotionally and physically. Dogs are given TLC, along with all the appropriate veterinary care to ensure they are healthy, before being transported north of the border to our shelter in Santa Rosa, CA for continued care and adoption.
